about us:
annabelle magazine is a bimonthly lifestyle web magazine, dedicated to the proposition that we don't have to have a lot of money to have a fulfilled life. annabelle reflects the interests and whims of the editorial staff with contributions from emerging and established artists, musicians, and writers.
annabelle subverts the expectation that old-fashioned ways have to be conservative. We are inspired by old stuffin design and editorial content.
our belief is that there are many lifestyles, and all people, plants, and pets have the right to be creative and to inspire others.
contributors:
ALISA WELCH'S recent triumphs have been: five consecutive good fashion days, three subway rides without incident, and more laughing than usual at her favorite television shows. There are a few things you might not know about her, she collects Jacqueline Susann novels and overly large sunglasses, calls her friends from a pink rotary phone, prefers shoes without laces, and cannot be sure that she knows how to dive into a swimming pool.
SARAH THURMOND is delighted to live in the same neighborhood where a certain hot older Irish actor lives. She has recently been seen browsing for pumpkin bread at Whole Foods in Chelsea, running in old school New Balance running shoes, and jetting to Scotland to interview Belle and Sebastian for their retrospective DVD, Fans Only. Her long-term goals include taking piano lessons and finding a haircut that doesn't bore her after three months.
MARCI MARTINEZ is living and loving in New York City where she is often mistaken as Ellen De Generes' Mexican younger sister. Her recent money making schemes include buying lottery tickets at the bodega and dressing her dogs up as blind musicians and making them learn to play bongos.
KIM FUSCO graduated from Pace University with a degree in Speech Pathology only to get a job that proved too tedious for someone who now spends hours meticulously gluing rhinestones to handmade greeting cards. The ideas for which she gets from watching countless hours of craft and decorating shows. She has no sisters and no pets.
CANDICE OWENS is a mild-mannered secretary by day and an actress/playwright/ musician-to-be by night. She has been a disc jokey, copywriter, window washer, waitress/busgirl in a Chinese Restaurant, singer in a reggae band, "bad employee" in a window display (where she was literally paid to loaf and goof off) and your friendly neighborhood Avon Representative. Her hobbies include juggling, improvisational comedy, curling up with good books, and chain-smoking.
CAITLIN LEFFEL wants to put everyone's mind at ease, and let them know that no singing was involved in the writing of her article. A former "lady of leisure," Caitlin has perfected the art of totally gainful unemployedness, which she will reveal in her upcoming Pulitzer Prize-winning self-help book. In her spare time, Caitlin enjoys building forts, daydreaming about Campers (the shoes), and telling heavily-exaggerated stories to her friends about her daily activities. She LOVES Enrique but is saving herself for Mick Jagger.
MARTIN LAVOIE is a New York-based photographer. Contact him at: photo@worldskip.com
DOTTIE EAST is a singer-songwriter from Queen City, Texas. She has written songs for Feces Species and performs regularly at The Shower and The Kitchen.
KITTY ROGERS is a huge fan of Earl Pickens and the Black Mountain Marauders. She is awed by Earl's song writing ability and can be seen yeehawin' at most shows.
THANK YOU: Christy "Intestina" Welch, Chris Anderson, Paul Thompson for hosting us so graciously, Frank Fusco, all of our contributors and loyal fans, and God. And Buddha. And all of our favorite bands over the years. Thanks for the memories. And God.
